Families without love are collections of human beings linked by a cold reproductive trail. Blood is thicker than water, they say, but they also remind us that you cannot choose your family.

Love is not an inevitable consequence of the genetic trail, though it may exist in the same way as friendship is possible between former strangers. Human beings are, in their general collective opinion, the final outcome of millions of years of evolution. Yet, in the main, their drivers are still the same as those of the entire living world and emotionally we remain prehistoric.

This simplicity and the fundamental nature of human drivers is often unpalatable to the human mind and is often rejected by those who claim intelligence. To survive, to be comfortable, to be safe, to be entertained and to provide these things for the next generation, these are the fundamentals.

Of course it is more complex than this, but even the complexity is not necessarily a reflection of intelligence or the consequence of higher brain functions, but results from the complex layers of intergenerational social interactions of multiple human beings.

Unconditional love is is not a natural consequence of parenthood, any more than love is. I'm in danger of asking that age old question, what is love? Relax, you will be pleased to know that I am not going to ask that or try to define it. The answer might be a consequence of my writing, if you can identify it.

'An egg on the kitchen floor' is a story of human frailty, self delusion, and egotism. It is the story of a family that never was and the clash between ideals and principles that could never share the same space.

Damn persistent cough!

It makes me cough just thinking about it. It’s always there, breaking my train of thought, stopping me from developing any coherent argument, waiting to jump back out after a fleeting moment of forgetfulness, then I remember and the thought comes ‘it’s gone’ and there is it back again. It’s a constant reminder that I have to breathe to live, I take a breath in, another out, then the tickle and there it is again! I can’t remember what it is like not to cough, how quickly my recollection of being cough free from the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years before has fled. It’s very quiet here, apart from my coughing.

Winter knows it’s a workday

A grey, wet and very blustery day has welcomed us back to reality after the Christmas and New Year break, and to be honest the sooner January 3rd 2012 comes to an end the better! Of course, being a ‘Home Worker’, I am one of the lucky one’s - at least in terms of the usual impact the weather has on England’s overcrowded South Eastern road and rail networks. Apart from the usual delays at the shower and on the landing as I make my way to my office, the weather is unlikely to cause me any travel related delays today.

The global and technology based nature of the company I work for means that the weather in the UK has little impact on me, unless I lose my delicate access to the world provided by the pair of plastic coated copper wires being whipped against the branches of my oak tree. But the social and efficiency advantages provided by todays available technology are withheld from the majority of workers in the South East at least. The crazy ‘lemmingesque’ tidal wave of humanity that surges to and from London every weekday morning and evening continues unchecked.

Regardless of the available benefits brought by the increasingly wide channels provided for excited electrons to flow to and fro over incredible distances like micro commuters, uninterrupted by natures fury, the corporate masters continue to insist on physical presence as proof of labour. Late arrivals, early departures, discussion of the overcome challenges presented that day by the forces of nature, all add up to less time spent generating wealth for our masters. And commuters are fleeced by Government, road and rail providers.

Soon January 3rd 2012 will be over, will Winter know that its the second workday of the New Year tomorrow?

The farce of the United Kingdom

A few months ago it was announced by the Open University that fees in England were to be DOUBLED as a result of Government cuts. It has been announced now that, apart from a modest inflation linked increase, fees in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland will REMAIN THE SAME AS LAST YEAR!!

Overseas fee's have yet to be announced but are also likely to stay the same as are European Community Member States fees! The English institution based in Milton Keynes and created by a (proper) Labour Government to help people who did not have the opportunity to attend University is in total disrepute!

How can this be allowed! This is supposed to be a UNITED KINGDOM, yet the 49 million residents of England are subsidising the minorities in the other parts of the 'United Kingdom' (circa 3 or 4 million each in Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland).

When is there going to be an English Parliament and an end to this so-called 'United Kingdom' farce? Isn't it time to 'give' Wales and Scotland AND ENGLAND Independence and create a United Ireland? Let the smaller 'UK' countries join Europe - but get England out of it!

What the moon means to me

To me the moon resets my perspective and positions me as a tiny part of a wider and much greater reality.

When I see the moon, I never fail to wonder at the magnificence of it all - it strengthens my belief that the tiny insignificant creature that is man is of no more significance than are ants frenetically and frantically scrabbling in the dirt to feed their greedy ruling class and their gluttonous swollen Queen!

Once I accepted the relentless march of time, the inevitability of decay and the fact that finding and understanding the 'meaning' in life was forever beyond the grasp of mere 'human ants', I came to understand that the commonality of aspects found in religions did, as is often claimed, come from a single truth, a single deity, a single god. But this 'god' has no sentience, has no reality outside the imaginings of the human brain.
God is an explanation that fills the void in our knowledge, answers the unanswerable but without the burden of explanation. We are told we must have faith, we must accept without question, or we will be punished when these frail shells in which our earth bonded sentience lives, briefly and tenuously like a candle flickering in an unpredictable and heartless breeze, are pulled inevitably apart.

But nothing remains the same, yesterday is inevitably different from today and time marches on, relentless, destructive, without any purpose visible to us apart from the inevitable dismantling of everything we build, everything we create, everything we are.

For me, our closest celestial neighbour, puts it all into perspective.

People – they gambled on your life!

I think that if there were a referendum on whether dishonourable behaviour should be legalised, a significant number of people in the UK would vote for it.

I am sick to the back teeth of hearing how pensions are ‘unsustainable’ in the current economic climate and that we are ‘living too long’.

When you sign up for a pension scheme, its a contract between you and the pension provider. They take your money and they promise a return – a pension at an agreed rate for when you retire.

How they do this should not be of any concern to us.

If they then decide they cant deliver, then like in any economic transaction, that is their problem not ours.

Is it our fault that they gambled that we won’t live long enough to benefit from the deal, that they have taken a risk and fallen foul of it? Is it our fault that they gambled on a return by investing in the biggest gambling house of them all, the stock exchange – and they lost? Is it our fault – as Customers – that they didn’t have an effective business plan to meet their commitments to us? Is it our fault they misjudged the risks, made extravagant forecasts that proved to be wrong?

Is it not true that we, as a tiny country with very little real production, are living beyond our means in many more ways than in meeting promised commitments to working people?

Is the monarchy realistically sustainable, is there really sufficient return on the cost? Can we sustain the level of support we give to foreign countries, in Europe and beyond? Should we pour money into India for her poor, for example, when the country has a space program?

Come on people, isn’t it time we broke away from divisive party lines and dogma and began fighting for what is right, what is just and what is honourable?

Rich media people and the press

Why are the same people always whining about the press? JK Rowling, frankly a very lucky but mediocre writer, is one of the most litigious 'celebs' and supported the McCans, the infamous child neglectors. Incredibly the odious pair come out of hiding to appear once again before a committee of our dubious democratic 'leaders'.

It's amazing and ironic that the McCanns whine about press intrusion when they courted the press, parading around in the limelight instead of searching for their 'lost' child, especially when the UK press have staunchly defended them and supported them despite the generally held public view that they at the minimum neglected their children.

Celebs can afford lawyers and often owe their income to press coverage, it is ordinary folk who need protection.

The boundary between celebs and the press is vague and indistinct as many celebs write for the media.

Freedom of expression should not be confused with press freedom, they are not the same. The media is owned by millionaires.

Personally I don't see why someone who is in the eye of the media is any more worthy than an ordinary person of protection from the media eye.

Case in point, Gerry McCann and his Wife and friends used the media to protect themselves from a proper investigation into their suspicious behaviour on the night his child vanished. Why should they have been given the protection they clearly have received and why are they now allowed the right to speak where we, ordinary people, do not have equal coverage?

Why should Hugh Grant, who performed acts which were really not befitting a celebrity, be protected from exposure for those acts? Why should Max Mosley be protected when he has crossed the boundaries into perversion be protected from exposure?

The freedom of the press must be properly maintained of course, but allowing the press to be gagged to protect suspects is perhaps acceptable whilst an investigation is underway, but surely not when an investigation is being impeded or not even happening?

Freedom of expression and privacy must be balanced of course, but primarily for ordinary people who cannot afford expensive lawyers. So called celebrities can defend themselves - even nobodies who run funds to strip the public of money they cannot really afford.

Pretty much sums up the NHS doesn't it. But why are these drugs ALLOWED to be so expensive? Drug companies are making too much money out of the sick - its well past time the government - which is supposed to represent us - stepped in and legislated to reduce the cost of drugs sold to the NHS.

Maidstone MP responds…

Although a little slow in responding, I cannot argue that the Maidstone MP does not seem to be a supporter of the NHS, at least those services involving Mothers and Babies. This is the response to my letter of September 17th, however. Due to the delay, my second letter crossed over this one. Perhaps it even prompted the response? Anyway, it now transpires that many more services are being transferred out of the Maidstone region to the more affluent Tunbridge Wells region. The new Hospital located well away from Maidstone has individual ensuite rooms and looks suspiciously as if it is intended for those who prefer private funding. The cynical and experienced believe that this is simple privatisation and the intention is for those who do not enjoy private health insurance, through choice or limited funds, to be directed to Medway

I wrote some time ago regarding the surreptitious unchallenged and inexorable removal of services from Maidstone Hospital. You do not seem to have found the time to respond and confirm your position regarding the effective closure and transfer of services beyond your constituents reach.

We have now received advertising from Medway Hospital for it's maternity facilities. It feels uncomfortably as if we are seeing Medway becoming the local Hospital, trying to serve an increased region, whilst the near to Tunbridge Wells location begins to look like potential meat for privatisation.

I'm sure your Maidstone constituents would be interested in knowing what your position is on this matter and what you have done and intend to do to ensure we who fund the NHS will be getting adequate and local services for our contributions.

Putting forward extreme ideas creates an atmosphere of disbelief. The extreme claims put forward by the Daily Express provided the McCanns with the perfect opportunity to cast doubt and pour scorn on anyone who did not subscribe to their claims of abduction, much as David Icke reflects an aura of the crazy onto others who believe that carbon tax and claims of ecological disaster are being used by governments and corporations for their own profit.Without the initial court success, could the McCanns have silenced the press? It's probably not a popular view, but it seems to me that pouring money into charities, into countries like Somalia, fails to address root causes. I also wonder why charities spend so much time money and effort abroad instead of putting things right at home. As our representative you will, of course, be campaigning to retain the NHS services which those of us who have worked (and continue to work) have paid for and continue to pay for.

We do, of course, expect these to be run efficiently and economically, but with our contributions guaranteed they must be maintained locally to those who contribute in Maidstone (obviously closure is not an option).

It is therefore of concern that Maidstone services are being removed and taken to a location that has very poor access and is remote from the County town. The illogical location is suspected by some as being based on the residential locations of some of the people who run the services and not the location of potential users.

Obviously you, as representative of Maidstone, will prioritise the needs of Maidstone residents and will not be putting party dogma or the residents beyond the Maidstone area in front of your responsibilities to us.

Can you let me know what actions you are taking to ensure that this creep of services from Maidstone is ended and in particular how you intend to ensure that we continue to receive services paid for through National Insurance and tax - or receive reductions in those payments to allow us to direct our payments for ourselves?

I look forward to hearing of activities underway to prevent the A&E from closure in particular, as of course by it's nature such services are essentially located near the potential users.

England’s place in the United Kingdom

Our ‘democracy’ provides for the periodic election of a new Government, a UK Government.
A small number of political groups (called ‘parties’) who have the means to raise sufficient interest and funds present an outline of their intentions in government (known as a ‘manifesto’) to those eligible to vote. Members of the political groups present themselves as representative of the parties in pre-defined geographical areas in all of the UK Countries.

Whichever person achieves the greatest number of votes wins and goes on to represent the area in which they stood in a newly formed UK Parliament in Westminster Palace, London. The political group which has the most winning representatives forms the controlling government. The Government decides on which laws to make, unmake or change during their tenure. They do not have to deliver against their original manifesto commitments, they are not legally bound to do so and this has been proven in a Court of Law.

Although located in England, the UK Parliament contains all nationalities and is representative of all UK constituencies.

The Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish all have their own representative bodies in the form of either Parliaments (Scotland) or assemblies (Wales and Northern Ireland).

England has no representative body. European law considers the UK as a single Country. Scottish Universities have been given the authority to provide free education to Scottish residents and must, through European law, provide the same to other European Member States. Neither England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland are European Member States in their own right. Consequently Scotland does not have to treat the other members of the United Kingdom in the same way as other European Member States. Consequently Scottish Universities can discriminate against English, Welsh and
Northern Irish residents and are actively doing so through their charging of tuition fees to the residents of those countries.

Oddly enough, the Open University is also discriminating against the residents of England, but not those of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland – or European Member States. The basis of this discrimination is not known to this author. Perhaps the Open University could enlighten us?

Phone hacking & the McCanns

So, although the McCanns were not phone hacking victims, despite Madeleines face being used on many reports, there are still questions to be asked of their spokesman Clarence (who appears to be desperately keen to be a victim of phone hacking). Something doesn't sit right - using Madeleines picture alongside Milly Dowlers is clearly an amateurish attempt to associate known victims of the hacking scandal with the McCanns. Identifying the person who arranged this positioning to take place would be very useful to anyone investigating any links with hacking-exposed corruption between the state and the media.

The question which occurs to me is this, why were the McCanns not of interest to News International reporters? Why was there no appetite for investigating the McCanns, yet there was such an appetite in the case of a murdered schoolgirl and indeed in the case of Sarah Payne?

The McCann Fraud

According to their website, the objects of ‘the Fund’ are:

To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;
To procure that Madeleine's abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and
To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine's family.
If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.

As you can see, despite there being no objective evidence whatsoever, the McCann’s claim that is is a fact that Madeleine was abducted. You will also see that although the claim is made that the fund is intended to ‘thoroughly investigate’ the McCann’s have consistently and continuously refused to request that the case is un-shelved. They are ‘demanding’ a 'review' – in short they seek to absolve themselves from responsibility – the Portuguese authorities did not clear them as they claim, the case was shelved through lack of evidence and this means evidence of anything, including abduction. Unsurprisingly, particularly in the light of information emerging as a result of the News Intrnational scandal, Cameron quickly responded with a promise of £.3.5 Million to the Met. The shape and form of the action to be taken by the met, equally unsurprisingly, remains hidden.

The third point is the real purpose of the fund – within weeks of Madeleine’s disappearance, incrediibly, they used the fund to pay their mortgage.

They make sure in the final objective that they don’t have to spend a bean on any other case, safe in the knowledge that it is highly unlikely that Madeleine will ever be found.

The use of the fund to pay for lawyers is not mentioned in the objectives.

Surely putting out the begging bowl on the basis of a false claim is to seek to obtain money under false pretences? It is not a fact that Madeleine was abducted, to beg for money on the basis of abduction being a fact is to commit a fraud.

News International – all means and methods (but not on everyone)

I just don’t understand it. News International seem to have ignored the boundary between that which is legal and that which is illegal in their search for the truth (ha ha!) yet we know next to nothing about the McCann’s.

Is it possible that the saintly pair are indeed saintly? Could it be that they truly have no skeletons in the cupboard?

Is it possible that Clarence Mitchell, whilst clearly at the heart of ‘PR’ in the UK, knew nothing of News International’s endemic criminality?

Or were the McCann’s ‘off limits’ as a result of Clarence’s involvement?

If there is one thing which has been highlighted by the phone hacking scandal, it's the danger of allowing newspapers to be used as organs to spout forth the opinions of their owners and editors. No attempt is being made to address this.

As we have seen through the McCann case, the views of owners and editors dominate the content of newspapers, the corporate personality and that of a small group of individuals is seamless. Even now we see opinions and not news being thrust at us through the UK media machine.

Newspapers should not have personality and opinion but should present news. The opinions of editors and owners should remain 'fenced off' and clearly attributed in editorial columns, not allowed to permeate throughout. Headlines should not be opinions.

Freedom of the press should be freedom to distribute facts and not freedom to engineer society.

Clarence Mitchell

I can't help but wonder where Clarence Mitchell sits in all of this furore about phone hacking and the 'evil empire'.

Clarence was involved in the media frenzy around the Dowler case, he was of course involved heavily in the McCann case (and remains their 'spokesman') and Sky News, The Sun etc etc have been willing outlets for his propaganda..

He claimed he had been a victim very early on, which I remember thinking at the time was 'odd' for a self confessed media manipulator (or perhaps the word is 'interesting' not 'odd').

Apparently the McCann's have been victims - although considering the complete media no go area that they have wrapped around them it seems hardly plausible! Someone made a comment that they deleted their own text and voice messages efficiently enough not to require a hacker to do it.

I wonder if the media support for the McCann's will now slip away - and we might finally get to know some of the basic details whoch would have been unrearthed has it been any ordinary couple who had 'lost' their child - or if the newly castrated media will cease all forms of investigative jopurnalism for fear of a repeat of the 'phone hacking witch hunt?

Although I consider News International a nest of vipers (who have consistently supported dubious abduction claims and fraudulent funds) I cannot condemn investigative journalism. Let's not forget the good that has come from exposing public figures and 'celebs'.

The relationship between our so called democratic representatives - people we are supposed to have selected to work for us - and a supposedly independent and objective media lies exposed. But will we, the people, learn from it? Freedom of the press has always really meant freedom of expression for a section of society - in short, the owners of the press.

Sadly I expect no change, the wound will be covered with a plaster or two and the wound will heal. The disease will remain in the blood of the UK State. Don't expect legislation to maintain constitutional separation, we have no written constitution and we now see how tenuous is the separation that does exist between the executive, the media, the police.

For me, what some might see as an obsession with a case of child neglect is actually a so much wider concern. Media management of the McCann case has, for me, exposed so much more than the phone hacking scandal. The late and ingenuous apology from a multi millionaire, a forced resignation (no doubt with a secret reward) and an enquiry forced by a disgraced no longer sovereign parliament are meaningless acts - virtual plasters.

The ‘outrage’ of presenters and politicians aimed at the Murdoch empire might be considered a little hypocritical don’t you think? Watching the over dramatic ITN newscasters tonight made me think – didn’t they relish the discomfort of Ulrika and Sven yet they now speak in appalled tones of the scurrilous reporters who used all means at their disposal, legal or not (except, of course, when not investigating a certain pair of dubious parents!) to get at the dirt?

But I have to ask, is the outrage about justice and ‘doing the right thing’ or rather is it ‘dramatic’ outrage - a diversion to stop the exposure of wrongdoing? Of course, two wrongs don’t make a right, but why is everyone REALLY so up in arms about phone hacking?

Isn’t it just because they were up to no good and now they will not get caught?

If you don’t have anything to hide, does it matter if someone knows what you said on your mobile?

It is very easy to go around and around in circles when thinking about a problem unless one takes a coherent logical analytical and defined approach.

I’m not a detective, I have no experience of criminal investigations beyond watching ‘Morse’ or ‘Lewis’ or, more playfully, ‘Midsomer Murders’!!

Neither am I a Scientist.

But I am familiar with problem solving techniques and to a degree scientific investigative methodology.

To assume a most likely scenario as the basis for a theory and to seek to prove the theory can be an appropriate approach. The problem arises when the ‘investigator’ is not an objective observer and has a vested interest in the outcome of an investigation. If a theory is selected because it is the most beneficial to the investigator then it is immediately flawed in the eyes of the casual observer.

When one loses an object, a set of keys for example, does one begin ones search in the garden, in the street, in the town, the next town, the next county? Or is it more effective to retrace ones steps, to consider the details of events which led to the ultimate realisation that the keys are missing? When did I last use them, were the house keys in the set, did I need them to get in, did I ring the door bell, was the door open…you get the idea!

Imagine that you lose your keys – would it be appropriate to assume they have been stolen and to completely dismiss all other possibilities, or would it be more effective and sensible to consider all possibilities, beginning with the most likely - that you misplaced them yourself?

Imagine if you had lost your child and that it had been through your own negligence or some other act for which you might be punished, either in terms of your career or through the law. It would, of course, be more favourable if you could reduce your own culpability and find a focus for responsibility and blame. You may well select a theory that meets those requirements and focus fully and overtly and consistently upon it.

Would that make it most likely or the most favourable?

I doubt, even now that the icebergs tip has emerged in the public domain, that justice will be done. The Sun once again speaks as if its corporate personality were that of an individual, more faceless journalism and the ongoing corruption of the ideals that are freedom of expression and the more dubious freedom of (the owners of) the press.

Although I cling to the hope that the corruption in the UK government (as seen through the unresolved expenses scandal) the police (as seen through the phone hacking scandal) and the media (as seen through the McCann's protection and numerous other scandals) will be fully and finally exposed as a result of the tremors which appear to be coursing through the Empire of The Sun, I have no real expectation that this will be the outcome. Outraged opinionated presenters (speaking out on LBC for example) already temper their outrage because they are a part of that empire. Can a crime correspondent working for Sky News, for example, be objective when his boss is the sovereign ruler of News International?

Kate McCann and her supporters claim that it is hatred that drives those who will not allow their claims to go unchallenged, even though the press unanimously take such a stance (especially the Murdoch empire!). The fact is that this is not about arguments between supporters of undeniably failed parents and those who do not support their failure. This is about justice for a child and the prevention of crime.

Many upper and middle class parents assume it is the responsibility of everyone except themselves to protect their children - we have all seen this before. The view is rife in the media as presenters line up to support the idea that ‘we have all done it’ when it is suggested that it is wrong to leave a four year old as a babysitter to her eighteen month old siblings.

An analogy is appropriate to explain my own view. If you leave a child in the fast lane of a motorway, it is hardly appropriate to blame the speeding driver who hits them, even though it is wrong to exceed the speed limit and the driver should also be prosecuted.

Parents must take responsibility and the McCanns - who claim that they left their children but occasionally sent their friends to check on them - at the very least were careless and in truth were neglectful. This was not a mistake as some claim - as they did it every night. This is the least of the charges that can be levelled at them.

Many, myself included, believe that they are responsible for much worse than this. Even if they are not, their fund is a fraud - it has been used to pay their mortgage and lawyers to protect them, when it claims to be primarily for a search which assumes only one possibility, stranger abduction.

All we seek is a trial - a fair trial of course - but not a whitewash.

Make no mistake, this is not about hatred of the McCann's - it is about a belief in the rule of law.

Almost without exception those who support the McCann's will not debate the facts, will not accept that there is a possibility at least that Madeleine was not abducted - even despite there being no evidence whatsoever of such an abduction having taken place.

The appalling words used by Kate McCann in her book are horribly revealing. Surely nobody in their right mind would use the words to describe what may have been done to Madeleine by an abductor - or even allow themselves to think it - least of all a mother. Kate McCann's sanity must at least be in question.

Do not make the error of believing that only nut cases and conspiracy theorists disbelieve the McCann's claims - even if both exist on both sides of the debate!

My views regarding the recent media ‘outrage’ (a joke in itself!) at the methods employed by the News of the World ‘journalists’ brought me into contact with ‘Victor Olliver’ – a self styled ‘Astrologer’ who will attack the person of anyone who dares question the McCann’s – the infamous parents who claim their daughter was abducted – to the exclusion of all other possibilities.

This odd person (though probably not as ‘odd’ or ‘enigmatic’ as he would want us to believe and little more than a charlatan living off the foolishness of the general public) also calls himself ‘Madame Arcarti’ and pours forth drivel in that name on his blog.

I suppose this kind of person will always line up on the side of illogic and fantasy and his alignment on the side of the McCann’s is probably far more damaging to them than anything that anyone else can throw at them.

You may already know that soldiers killed in the line of duty will no longer be driven through Wootton Bassett for family members and the public to pay their respects.

The Wiltshire town lies on the route taken by corteges as bodies are transported from nearby RAF Lyneham to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where post mortems are carried out – the decision to close the airbase was taken in 2003.

Instead bodies will be flown to RAF Brize Norton and be taken directly to the John Radcliffe, avoiding Wootton Bassett altogether.

Despite the fact that the decision was taken some time ago, should we be suspicious that no alternative town has been identified for family members and the public to pay their respects?

Is this a government decision which seeks to avoid the often angry debate between religions and by doing so hands victory to one side and denies the other what is clearly their inalienable right?

Although, in my opinion, the value of wasting lives in the eternal warzone is arguable, lives lost as a result of government millionairres decisions should be honoured and families whose members have paid the ultimate price must be given the opportunity to receive public respect from those who their loved ones are purported to have died to protect.

Are the soldiers not there to protect the very way of life being given away by those who have undemocratically and unconstitutionally seized power?

So strange that some people sell their military medals – I mean medals they were awarded.

I suppose for some its simply that they know they didn’t deserve them, for others because they lack an understanding of honour – I know someone who sold theirs to avoid passing them on to their eldest son because they had fallen out. Medals are awarded simply for being in a warzone, regardless of role and regardless of belief in the cause.

But to have won medals for courage and extraordinary valour and to have to sell them to survive, that’s just not right.

English Independence

Isn’t it about time we took English Nationalism back from the men of violence and hatred? As the Scottish, Welsh and Irish have said for many years, Nationalism does not have to be racism.

England continues to fund the other UK countries – the most public and obvious injustices being the funding of free prescriptions in the other countries and the funding of free Universities in Scotland.

We are fooled by talk of independence for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – what about independence for England! Remember, the Parliament in Westminster – no longer Sovereign anyway, such Sovereignty was given to Europe years ago - is the UK Parliament and is dominated by Scots. Scots make decisions about England, but England has no such power in Scotland.

Very carefully devolution was proffered to the English in the form of regional assemblies, an unwelcome form – not as an English Parliament.

Students domiciled in Scotland and other Member States outside of the UK are entitled to free University places in Scotland – but as part of the UK, English, Welsh and Irish students have to pay – this can only be ended by independence from Scotland being given to England, Ireland and Wales. England can no longer afford to fund the UK.

Time for a written English Constitution and freedom from Scottish dominance.

Daily Express - fickle reporting

I recall, as will many, that the UK Daily Express supplied the McCanns with their first cash injection. After printing utter tripe about the McCann parents being 'swingers', an accusation often made of 'middle class' Christian families, the McCann pair and their team of child minders were given a huge 'win' as an out of court settlement.

I know of a mature couple who were trying unsuccessfully to have a longed for daughter whose 'Christian friends' offered up their services to 'help' - and I don't think a turkey baster was involved! My point being, I can see how the rumours start! One might argue that such behaviour - including trying medical treatments to create children when it could be argued that 'God' doesnt want the couple to have a child - has no place in the Christian faith. My own view is that such (Christian) couples should consider at least the millions of children in the world who have no parents. As I write this it makes me angry when I think of the damage the McCann case has done - the money which has been diverted from genuine causes other than funding the McCann family.

Mixed justice

Milly Dowlers parents have seen a different side of justice than that given to the McCanns - newspapers have not, it would seem, been told to keep away from the Dowlers. Actually neglectful parents are off limits, clearly innocent parents are fair game. Molly was murdered by a stranger - yet the perpetrator is allowed to attack her family as his defence.

In the McCann case we are not even allowed to suggest an alternative to the abduction theory, despite the complete lack of objective evidence.

Justice seems a concept alien to the UK lawyers playground, this money making machine has nothing to do with seeking truth. But are truth and justice between human beings ever possible or are the perceptions of individuals always their reality?

If you have ever known a situation where a lie has become the truth in the eyes of others, you will know what I mean.

Setting the record straight

I recently discussed my position regarding the McCann case with a family member who had not followed the case. Whilst they ‘did not like’ the McCann’s, they were persuaded by their ‘tirelessly’ working to keep Madeleine in the news. Asking the not unreasonable question ‘why would they do that if they were in anyway actually responsible for her disappearance’?
Notwithstanding the fact that abandoning their children to the dark Portuguese night was the enabler for an alleged abduction and is in many peoples eyes negligence, the use of their private ‘fund’ to pay for their mortgage may provide an indication as to why they want to keep the income to the fund flowing – why they need to keep Madeleine in the public eye.
Contrary to popular (media generated) public belief, the McCann’s have never been cleared on any offence – the statement made by the Portuguese judiciary was that the case was shelved due to lack of evidence of any wrongdoing. In short, there was insufficient evidence which could be used within the framework of requirements to enable a successful Court trial. They want an independent (UK sourced) review (not a reopening) to ‘clear their names’. The fact is they could request the case be re-opened today simply (as the Portuguese detective who was removed from the case for making politically incorrect statements has stated) ‘for the price of a stamp’ on a letter of request to the Portuguese Judicial authorities.
I have an illustration of the difficulties involved in keeping the record straight (or putting it straight when it veers away from reality) closer to home.
Apparently the word in the family – mischievously fuelled by ‘known individuals’ with scurrilous motives – is that I have ‘made accusations on the internet’ that the McCann’s are ‘murderers’!
Setting any record straight is virtually impossible to do in any controlled or logical manner in todays manipulated media society. But this shows that ‘the record’ is not only manipulated and warped through misinformation by and from the media and the press. Machiavellian manipulators go about their dark business distant from the corridors of power – amongst ones own family!
So in an attempt to ‘set the record straight’ I will state my position and belief regarding the McCann’s – and my motives for posting in my personal blog my opinions. I do this even though I should not have to justify my opinions in a free society which should have found the balance between privacy and freedom of expression which did not rely on antiquated and toothless Human Rights statements which have been given caveated legal power in the law of England & Wales through the legislation passed into English & Welsh jurisprudence by the UK Parliament – namely the Human Rights Act 1998 and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Based on nothing more than common sense interpretation, the complete lack of objective evidence that Madeleine was abducted has caused me to doubt that Madeleine was, in fact, ‘abducted by stranger’. This does not mean I believe she was murdered – I have not seen anything since my interest was first aroused in May of 2007 which proves the McCann’s (or their friends) deliberately committed homicide of any kind (deliberate or accidental). A murder charge requires mens rea and actus reus elements to be present – they are not. Homicide does, of course, come in different forms - and their are defences available!
But an abduction also requires elements which are also not present – it is not enough to say ‘well, she isn’t here is she, so she must have been abducted’ – which is the McCann party line. We do not know what did happen (though there are strong indications which I will not repeat here!) but we can,in my opinion and based on my interpretation of the statements and timelines provided the McCann’s and their friends, be 99.99% certain about what didn’t happen.

In short, I beleive that Madeleine was not abducted by stranger. As to my motives, well, firstly I have an opinion and this issue is important to me because the McCann's mouthpiece (Clarence Mitchell - now working for David Cameron!) made statements that it was usual practice in the UK to do what the McCanns did. So in effect he spoke for me on the European (indeed, the World) stage. I have to challenge that! I also beleive that the McCann case exposes press manipulation - Big Brother lives - and exposes misuse of position, abuse of charity...public gullibility...I could go on!

I hope this simple (I know - I rambled on a bit!) statement ‘sets the record straight’.

The BBC have reluctantly ‘apologised’ for accusing the Portuguese Police Chief who believes, like many others, that the McCann’s were responsible for more than just neglect of their child.

Where is the apology from the appalling so-called ‘journalists’ who have consistently attacked the Portuguese police and any other people who believe the McCann’s are not the saints the UK media and society would have us believe they are - these 'reporters' were vicious in their attacks on the basis of an erroneous report,

Antonella Lazzeri in particular has been vociferous in her support of people who we already know failed in their parental responsibility. We do not know why she and others like her feel so strongly that parental failure - which undeniably resulted in the loss of their child - is something which should attract sympathy. Remember, these people were actually jogging around when others were searching and investigating their child disappearance, yet they are critical of anyone who does not simply accept what remains an unproven and unsupported theory and some how 'search'!

Personally I believe it may be that there is a culture in the media - a culture of child minders, creches and second hand child care, which brings those in the media who have focussed on career above parenthood to be over sympathetic (there but for the grace of god...).

To these people I put this to them, is this a simple case of child neglect or is it exacerbated by other factors - for example, why was it necessary to return to the UK to collect Madeleines DNA - was there none on her pillow or her 'cuddle cat'?

If the McCann's had received an apology it would have been plastered all over the UK press - why is this apology not so deserving?

To me, the most ingenuous photographs - in fact one of the things which first made me sit up and look at the McCann's - are those of Kate McCann holding a pink cuddly toy, said to be Madeleines favourite bedtime companion (not 'abducted' but either left on the bed or placed on a shelf - depending on which 'tale' you read!).

This was, to me, intended as a 'badge of courage' - being worn by someone who felt they ought to have some outward display of being a caring mother.

This is typical of the UK media’s approach – to belittle the Portuguese Police and claim that the UK Police are the finest in the world.

It seems very unlikely that justice is going to win through - £3.5 million down the drain after a whitewash seems the most likely outcome.

The guilty hide

I am sufficiently objective to realise that it is not illogical to put forward the view that the McCann’s must be innocent of wrongdoing – or why would they seek to maintain their high profile.

It is probably not a sufficiently robust argument to suggest that they may be addicted to their self generated celebrity, though this is perfectly credible and not unknown. I suspect that their social status as respectable professionals is persuasive to some – if they were in the social layer occupied by Karen Mathews, for example, then I am sure the argument would be considered sufficient explanation for the McCann’s hunger for celebrity.
Perhaps it would be more acceptable to many to put forward the argument that the McCann’s must maintain income to their fund in order to maintain the services of Carter Ruck, without whom their control of the UK media is likely to crumble, leading to items of news such as their failure to ban the retired Police Detective Senor Amaral’s book, ‘The Truth of the Lie’, finding their way into the UK media outlets. It is incredible how few people are aware of the other side of the McCann story. Even handed and objective reporting plays no part in the UK telling of the McCann story. It is very likely that without their fund the McCann’s would be ordinary citizens of Europe, ordinary subjects of the Queen, exposed as are the rest of us who do not enjoy the protection of the law in England and Wales that makes the UK the haven of celebrities hiding their indiscretions.

This is probably the most powerful, if not the only, explanation for their need to put a book into the public domain 4 years after Madeleine was lost and to match the publication with their appeal for a review of the case files, which does not include a re-opening of the investigation.

Perhaps this is seen as a high risk strategy to the average uninterested observer. Those of us who have watched this case across those 4 years would disagree. There have been incredible unchallenged revelations – for example, claims from the McCann’s that they had no credit cards, no watches on, no mobile phones to hand!

Perhaps the guilty do hide sometimes, but sometimes hiding in full view is far more effective.

Cameron no doubt stuck between a rock and a hard place - but surely an opportunity to request the case be re-opened by the controlling authorities in Portugal? Personalyl I'd prefer to see this money put to better use, its not even worth £3.5 million to see the McCann's face charges - but it is unlikely that we will see this outcome - it is definately not worth £3.5 million jsut to whitewash the McCann's.

Review of ‘evidence'?

The McCann’s are very careful to not be asking for the investigation of the disappearance of their daughter to be re-commenced.

They want a formal review of ‘evidence’ – but this is not actually evidence at all, its crank sightings and false leads. Its a focus on a mysterious ‘abductor’.

You see, they were never 'cleared' as they claimed at the time. The status was lifted because the case was shelved. Which is why they will not ask for the investigation to be re-opened, its the last thing they want.

They want a whitewash, they want sympathy, public acceptance that they are victims. But we know that they were, at the outset, perpetrators who brought everything down upon themselves. At the very least, they failed in their duty of care.

There was only one real victim – it was Madeleine who has paid the price.

Window of opportunity

The last time Gerry McCann saw Madeleine, he tells us, was his ‘proud father’ moment.

He then left the apartment - this was, he says, at 21:10

At 21:15 Jane Tanner claims she saw the abductor making off with Madeleine (Gerry was there too, finding it amusing that he hadn’t seen the ‘abductor’).

This provided a 5 minute (maximum) ‘window of opportunity’.

So within 5 minutes the ‘abductor’ had entered the apartment, gathered up a sleeping Madeleine and silently opened the window and shutters, climbed through carrying a sleeping Madeleine and made off, only to be spotted by Jane – so despite his incredible SAS like professionalism he chose to walk into the very path taken for the frequently checking parents. He then wandered around with her for a while, hoping to be spotted. No doubt to his joy, he found the Smith family – who later decided that the abductor was in fact Gerry McCann.

I think the word you might be searching for is ‘ludicrous’.

The Mystery of The McCann’s

If you read the UK media, newspapers and newspaper web sites, if you watch the UK TV news, you could be forgiven for feeling sorry for the McCann’s and believing that the worst thing they did was go on holiday in a lawless area of Portugal, rife with criminals of the worst kind and policed by bumbling ‘foreign’ idiots who can barely string two words of English together.

You could be forgiven for believing that their is ample evidence that Madeleine was abducted by a paedophile ring despite the best efforts of their parents to protect her.

You could be forgiven for believing that Kate is the perfect mother, a quality lady of high morals and deep religious faith.

You could be forgiven for believing that her proud father seeks to maintain a high profile to the case to ensure that the search for their missing daughter continues until she is found alive and well and giving her captors a tough time.

But for me, the real mystery is not what happened to Madeleine (a mystery of course, but one that has been largely solved at ground root level by the Portuguese police) but why the media continually avoid asking the difficult questions and take the same approach to them as they do to the Royals – they avoid the controversial questions like the plague.

There is, in fact, no evidence whatsoever that Madeleine was abducted. In fact, if the timeline presented by the McCann’s (but never re-enacted to avoid exposing the significant holes in it) were to be believed, an abduction was impossible.

There is, of course, evidence that Madeleine is no longer being cared for by her parents, there is evidence that Madeleine was carried away that night - but not by a stranger!

Just scratch away at the glossy surface and almost instantly the rust is exposed and questions questions questions!

Why was so much time spent in the McCann’s ‘documentary’ discussing which side of the road Gerry was on when he chatted to the producer Wilkins? The pantomime enacted was ended by the retired McCann detective stating ‘it doesn’t matter anyway’. If it didn’t matter, why did we need to see the debate? Were we being distracted, the idea being embedded into our minds that Gerry was actually there at the same time that an abductor was seen by Jane Tanner - so we wouldn’t challenge it? So if Gerry and abductor were seen at the same time, then Gerry couldn’t have been the same man that the Smith family saw – and later identified as Gerry?

Now we are told that the McCann’s want the case to be reopened with the involvement of the Portuguese authorities. In fact they want the case reviewed rather than re-opened, an important distinction.

A review of sightings is not the same as a re-opening of the investigation. The investigation can be re-opened at any time at the request of the McCann’s. Unfortunately for them, it would likely trigger ‘arguido’ status and require a reconstruction of events of May 3rd. This the McCann’s need to avoid at all costs. They fled Portugal because the evidence was stacking up against them. Kate McCann had refused to answer police questions – perhaps through arrogance or perhaps because the questions were far more pertinent to solving the mystery of the disappearance of Madeleine than those posed by the disgraced but reborn former editor of the Daily Mirror. Ironic perhaps that Gerry was recognised as the man seen carrying a child on May 3rd 2007 as he came down the steps of the getaway vehicle –

Smith recognised the way he held the child, this time one of the twins.

You may be forgiven for being fooled by the UK media, but you may not be forgiven for continuing to be fooled in the face of Kate McCann’s ramblings – in a book written by her, thrust in your face by a tabloid newspaper and inadvertantly revealing that she is not a quality lady at all!

In the face of an undeniable media propaganda blitz and a parallel drive into Government, where are the investigative journalists...where is the Jeremy Kyle when you need him!

At breakfast time on the Thursday, Madeleine had a question for us. "Why didn't you come when Sean and I cried last night?"

We were puzzled. Did she mean when they were having their bath? we asked her. Or just after they'd gone to bed?

Madeleine didn't answer or elaborate. Instead she moved on to some other subject that had popped into her head, apparently unconcerned. If something had happened to make her cry, it was pretty unlikely that she wouldn't tell us about it.

Gerry and I were disconcerted. Could Madeleine and Sean have woken up while we were at dinner?

The only other unexplained detail I remember from that morning was a large, brown stain I noticed on Madeleine's pink Eeyore pyjama top. It looked like a tea stain.

‘Could the children have woken up while we were at dinner?’ asks Kate…so the children were left alone in the apartment on May 2nd as well, I think we knew it but here it is for anyone who didn’t realise this was no ‘one off’.

‘Did she mean when they were having their bath?’ asks Kate…is she telling us the little 18 month old twins and nearly four year old Madeleine were having their bath alone with their parents out of earshot?

But most importantly, the stain - what is she saying? The abductor had tea with Madeleine? If this is new evidence, it may be just what the authorities have been waiting for (giving the ‘authorities’ the benefit of the doubt). One thing is for sure, the retired Detective removed from the case for not being politically correct regarding the English Police is watching closely.

Is this book about Madeleine at all?

I admit that I do not buy ‘The Sun’ – I’m picking up snippets from their web site and through interested parties blogs,

I also admit that I have not read the book, its not released yet and I have no intention of fuelling what I consider to be a fraud and am waiting for access that costs me either nothing, or just enough not to leave anything for ‘the fund’ (I’m expecting the book to be in the bargain bucket quite soon!).

Having said all that, it does seem to me that this book is doing nothing to add to our knowledge of Madeleine herself or of how she came to no longer be in the care of her parents. I will, however, force myself to be objective when I review the book in detail at some future time. I know that the detective who knows more about the case than any other living person (apart, of course, from the perpetrators of the crime) is looking with interest at this book – looking at it as potential evidence – perhaps evidence that can be submitted to the prosecutors and kick off the investigation once again.

I’m not referring to the ‘review’ which the McCann’s seek, as that is – in my humble opinion - intended to be a whitewash and redirect attention to a search of an abductor – destined to be a fruitless but deliberately ‘noisy’ search. I am referring to a proper objective police investigation that does not make any assumptions at the outset. The McCann’s are assumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or at least on the balance of probabilities (in a negligence case), but this is judicial jargon. It is not the language of a investigating team.

It seems that focussing, as ever, on her own feelings and revealing the pent up anger and violence that dwells in her could provide criminal psychologists with a great deal of direction – as an amateur I certainly find that (so far at least) Kate McCann is exposing much about herself and little about Madeleine.

FORMER Portuguese police co-ordinator Goncalo Amaral has issued a plea for Kate McCann to "tell the truth" and spoken of his delight at having his freedom of speech returned.
Speaking exclusively to mccannfiles.com on the eve of the publication of Mrs McCanns' book about missing daughter Madeleine, Mr Amaral said he was surprised at Kate's claim that she was writing her book "to give an account of the truth."
"It is strange to hear the word 'truth' from the mouth of someone who didn't cooperate with the police when the investigation was open," he said.
"And it was not any investigation; it was about finding what caused the mysterious disappearance of her daughter, and the enormous effort to recover her."
Mr Amaral believes the McCanns have "the right to be able to write what they like about the case" and supports the fact that Kate "is using her freedom of speech". Something recently denied him.
"A book that is written by someone who was a suspect may become of use as a document, maybe even a piece of documental evidence. Let us wait," he added.
Mr Amaral, whose bestselling book The Truth of the Lie was the subject of costly legal action by the McCanns, said he "felt like a free man" when the injunction on his book was overturned by the Appeals Court in October last year. "The McCanns also felt free because they decided to write a book," he observed.
The McCanns, who failed in their recent appeal to Portugal's Supreme Court to reimpose the ban, must now return all seized copies of the book, currently placed with their lawyer, Isabel Duarte, or risk incurring a criminal charge of disobedience.
"Legality has been re-established," said Goncalo Amaral. "The McCanns have just lost one more judicial action that was paid for with money from a fund that they say is for recovering their daughter.
"Both her and her husband were, and still are, more concerned with defending their image than in finding out what caused the child's mysterious disappearance."
An English language version of Goncalo Amaral's book is yet to be released but he said: "After the McCanns' book is published, there is no reason whatsoever for The Truth of the Lie not to be published in the UK. The British people are entitled to know all of the facts."
Mr Amaral believes that the process will be reopened and "the material truth will be known" and is dismissive of the McCanns' petition for a review of the case.
"That is one of the misunderstandings that are created by the McCanns," he said, "they do not want the case to be reviewed, they merely want a review of the information that has been added after the shelving (sightings of the child).
"If they wanted the case to be reviewed, they would ask for the crime process and the investigation to be reopened, and they would supply all of the reports from the various private detectives that they have hired.
"To ask for the process to be reopened, all it would take is a letter to the Prosecutor, as it has already happened in so many other cases. It costs them nothing, just the stamp on the letter."
If the process were reopened, Mr Amaral believes there are "several" diligences which could be carried out to help discover the truth.
"There will always be diligences that will result from reviewing the investigation and the reports from the McCanns' private detectives. Those diligences will have to take the conclusions that the Police had reached in September of 2007 into account.
"That is the starting point, but in the end it could happen that those conclusions are not confirmed. What is necessary is to complete an investigation that was suddenly interrupted due to the will of the parents of a child that has disappeared mysteriously."
Mr Amaral has no doubts about which action would have to be undertaken immediately to help unearth the truth of what happened to Madeleine.
"The first diligence, after the review, will have to be the reconstruction of that night of the 3rd of May, 2007."

The ‘Sun’ wants to see the NHS privatised, make no mistake that this is what tory ‘NHS reform’ actually means. A theory…theory ‘A’…

One of the issues I have always had with the McCann’s account of the loss of their daughter is their unflinching and narrow focus on abduction.

The difficulty is this; how could the child have been abducted from her bed when the checking regime was so thorough? The incredibly narrow ‘window of opportunity’ and the oddities of language and the inconsistencies emerging from GP Kate and her Cardiac Consultant husband and the many changes and amendments in their accounts create a background noise that overpowers coherent thought and creates discomfort in the tale they tell.

Why would their friends be so co-operative in checking the McCann’s children yet the McCanns did not return the favours? This feels like the result of hindsight – it feels like someone changing history to confirm that there was no negligence.

What if the truth is that the children were alone and unchecked from the time their parents left for the Tapas bar until a single check was made by Kate McCann at 10:00 pm? What if the fabrications created were nothing more than a desperate attempt to avoid the Portuguese authorities at the time from charging them with negligence?

Could this be why the McCann’s are so adamant that Madeleine was abducted – because they know that they were negligent and there was plenty of time for an abduction and they know that they have nothing else to hide except their negligence?

This is the negligence cover up theory. In future I’ll refer to it as theory ‘A’.

Was their biggest mistake the engagement of the big media manipulating gun, Clarence Mitchell and the first push that was given to the runaway media juggernaut?

Personally my suspicions were aroused first by the ‘badge’ that was ‘Cuddle cat’ – and the photo opportunities given of the grieving mother ‘wearing’ it. Even the most sympathetic observer could not fail to raise their eyebrow when it was reported that ‘Cuddle Cat’ had found its way into a washing machine!

The publishing of a book finally recording the account from Kate McCann in a form which cannot easily be altered is a long awaited milestone – he question is, how deep and detailed will this account be? Will their be any new evidence for the Police investigation to be recommenced?

Initial excerpts are already being amended – Kate now mentions that her husband and their friend Mathew Oldfield were the last in the apartment and that when she noticed the door had been moved to a new position, she wondered if Matt had moved it. It is not made clear why she didn’t think it might have been Gerry, despite the fact that her husband long ago told the world that he had entered the room and looked down on their child in what has become known as the ‘proud father’ moment.

This may be the result of errors by the ‘journalist’ and long time McCann supporter who is printing extracts for her articles in ‘The Sun’. I await my copy of the final published book (at a bargain bucket price – it shouldn’t be too long a wait!).

Surely this was a reasonable thing for David Payne to say? Why does she draw our attention to her frustration?

It has never been revealed by Kate McCann how she was so immediately convinced that Madeleine had been abducted, even though the child was known to have difficulty sleeping and was rewarded at home with stars for not entering the McCann’s bedroom. How did Kate know that Madeleine had not wandered? In an interview on ‘Woman’s Hour’ (BBC Radio 4) she said she couldn’t say, as there was ‘judicial secrecy’ – surely now she can tell us now?

Perhaps this will be revealed in the full text of her book – looking forward to a full line by line review? You could do worse than return here in future days, once its in the bargain bucket (which I suspect will be soon!).

An odd assumption and another question for the list!

AT 10pm I went back to the apartment myself. I entered the sitting room via the patio doors, as Gerry and Matt had done, and stood there, listening, for a few seconds.

All was silent. Then I noticed that the door to the children's bedroom was open quite wide, not how we had left it.

At first I assumed that Matt must have moved it. I walked over and gently began to pull it to. Suddenly it slammed shut, as if caught by a draught.

The draft was a requirement for the claim that the apartment window had been opened and it was through this (actually not open – and sporting only Kate McCanns thumb print) than Madeleine had been ‘posted’!

But why – in a new piece of evidence – did she assume Matt and not Gerry had moved the door? Importantly, she now claims she began to pull the door, pull it shut, pull it wider – another mystery which must be added to the very long list of questions Kate refused to tell the Police!

Once again the terminology is extreme, would you avoid waking the children ‘at all costs’? Does this, perhaps, include the use of sedatives?

The inconsistency continues, it is as if Kate McCann has not seen her own documentary, yet another different sequence of events is told in extracts from Kate McCann’s book – it is little wonder that the police found it impossible to extract a consistent time line from the McCann’s and their friends!

If a door is open wider than you had left it (bearing in mind another inconsistency that Kate Mccann was not supposed to have been the last person in the apartment looking in on the children – Gerry had supposedly entered the room to look down on Madeleine in a ‘proud father’ moment) why would you go to close the door without doing the very thing you claim was the reason for your being in the apartment, i.e. actually checking that your children were ok!

The extracts from Kate’s book appear once again to overlook the sequence of events that night – again no time line. Again we are told they resumed their search at first light – yet Kate did not actually physically search at all! Everyone was searching except the McCann’s themselves – yet she sells us no one was searching.

As expected, this book is damning and appears, so far, to be an attack on the Portuguese police. A detailed and line by line review of this book is coming folks (apologies for the delay, awaiting bargain bucket prices!)

Manipulation – is this what innocent parents do?

Kate and Gerry McCann attended the European Parliament. Once they were on the train back to the UK, the news exploded that Madeleine had asked them (on the morning of May 3rd) why they had not come to her when she had called for them on the night of May 2nd.

Quite why ‘someone’ had decided to leak this information once the McCann’s were safely on the train remains a mystery. Why wait until the press conference was over – why not ‘explode’ this news when the McCann’s could be questioned?

Was this the work of Clarence Mitchell – their media manipulator?

The McCann’s never adequately explained why they left the children alone and unattended in an unlocked apartment on May 3rd, after this apparent early warning – although they did go on to claim that Madeleine may have been disturbed by someone encroaching on their apartment.

Kate McCann is quoted in ‘The Sun’ (from her book) as saying “If your child is killed in a traffic accident, or died of cancer, parents are at peace.”

If this is the standard of comment we are to expect from the rest of her book, it does not bode well for the quality and standard of the rest of this ‘literary masterpiece’. I used to use the analogy that placing your child in the fast lane of a motorway and then blaming the driver that hit her as typical of people who failed to take care adequately of their children. granted, the driver may have been speeding, but this does not absolve the parent of the ultimate responsibility. Of course an abductor is committing a criminal offence so the analogy is not perfect, so I wouldn’t pursue it.

In any case, I suspect that the disappearance of Madeleine is far more complicated than a child being left unattended in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country deep into the night whilst the parents partied. According to the claims of the parents (and their friends) the checks their friends made on their behalf would have wrecked the party and made any abduction a very high risk operation – barely anyone would have been at the party at any particular moment and it would have been busier than a Harry Potter premiere at the McCann apartment!

Amazing friends too, as Kate and Gerry are not reported to have checked on their friends children at all! If they took turns on different nights, this has never been reported

With a turnout of only 42% the 69% majority becomes a little less persuasive – only 29% of the whole electorate actually chose to retain first past the post – a system which leaves the majority of the public at the mercy of a minority elective dictatorship.

Of course it is equally true to say that only approximately 13% of the UK electorate voted positively for AV, but with both major parties against the idea of a fairer voting system it had little chance of success. I believe that the majority of the UK population simply didn’t understand what it was all about.

As this book enters the public domain, I shall be reviewing and commenting on its content. I will be even handed, objective, unemotional. But I will pull no punches, the UK media chooses to take the view that the McCann family has nothing to hide and anyone who challenges them is heartless, a crazy, not to be suffered. But we remain living in a free democratic country – even though it is sometimes hard to believe it. I shall indicate where I believe there is bias and make no assumptions.

The proceeds of the book and the serialisation in The Sun are, we are told, to be given 100% to the McCann’s Madeleine Fund. However, it is worth remembering that this fund is not devoted to finding Madeleine, but to supporting the McCann family. Within weeks of its inauguration, the fund was used to pay the McCann’s mortgage. This is a questionable and almost entirely ignored (by the UK press) act by the McCann’s. In addition the fund has been used to pay legal fee’s as the McCann’s sought to silence the Police Detective who led the investigation, because this Portuguese police officer did not believe that Madeleine was abducted and questioned aspects of the McCann’s account. It is not unreasonable for an investigating police force to challenge anyone’s account where a crime has taken place, it does seem questionable for the parents of a lost child to try to stifle any investigation that does not focus on the assumption of an abduction, especially in the absence of any objective evidence that such an abduction took place.

It is to be hoped that this book will reveal much – but there is no guarantee that it will provide any further understanding as to why the McCann’s are so adamant that there is no possibility of any alternative theories to their own assertion that Madeleine was abducted and was abducted by an abductor with a particular motive.

Been away for a while....I see the McCanns are still at it, now trying to close down blogs using their dubious lawyers and even trying to stop others using Geralds laughable attempts at insightful comments. I assume this is so he can alter history - after all, he contradicted himself and Tanner on a key time (the alleged last time he saw his missing daughter and the alleged sighting of the mysterious abductor as he commenced his tour of PDL!).

Imagine the same people then threatening to sue people for 'harassment' because they printed the reasons why the child couldnt have been abducted.

Imagine they also sued to get a book written by the policeman who led the search for their child for stating the evidence as to why he suspected the parents - and getting away with it!

As we are confronted by yet more Sunday newspaper propaganda about Madeleine McCann, who whilst as unique as the rest of us was hardly the ideal subject of an abduction (a flaw in her eye being a 'trademark' as recognised by her less than fatherly father), I think its important to remember that had her parents taken proper care of her we would never have heard of her.

One check is not sufficient in a two hour period.

Ludicrous assertions that the McCann's friends were operating a non-reciprocated 'listening service' do not convince me that this was sufficient a supplement to defend such poor parenting.

Madeleine, to her parents, should have been considered irreplaceable before they lost her.

To most of us she was no more special than many other little mousey haired child. It is hardly credible that she was the only and special target of an international abduction gang!

Can you imagine it? Lets leave this little blonde haired twinset with no distinguishing marks and take that bigger one with the visible flaw - maybe it isnt just a visible sign of some deeper genetic disorder?

Drug the other two though, whilst we are at it! Ludicrous.

Sunday Express is suggesting that requests for assistance from the Portuguese police werent getting through Leicestershire police.

This is the Police force that (incredibly!) carries a link to the McCann money making 'fund'.

This was the very same issue that resulted in Sr Amaral's complaint which led to him being removed and replaced by the 'political' policeman, Rubello.

McCann's checking doubts

If we put aside our doubts about the frequency of checking of the children and look at the facts as they have been presented by the McCann's and their friends, it looks like this:

Kate and Gerald left the children at 8:30 pm. The bedroom door, in which they slept, was shut, the rear patio door was unlocked. The front door was locked.

We do not know if they left via the unlocked door, it seems likely. Was the gate at the bottom of the stairs locked in some way? We dont know - it seems unlikely as this would negate the leaving of the back door unlocked.

At 9:05 pm Gerald left the tapas bar and checked the children. The assumption is that he went in through the gate and up the steps to the back door, which was open.

He went to the lavatory, checked the children - opening the bedroom door to do so, as he had his 'proud father' moment. Did he go to the lavatory first? We dont know. He left the apartment at 9:10. Did he leave by the back or front door? It seems likely that it was the back door, as we must assume this was why it was left open - it was a shorter entry route. By 9:15 he was chatting with the producer.

At 9:30 Matt Oldfield checked the children. He didnt see Madeleine, just the twins. Did he open the door? It must have been opened or already open, did he open the door? Did he shut it after?
We dont know. All we know is that he didnt see Madeleine.

At 10 pm Kate did her check, she was tempted only to listen and leave but noticed the door open, she went to shut the door and was in the process of shutting it when a gust of wind pushed it against her. Unlike Matt she did check all the children and found Madeleine gone, the window open, the shutter raised.

Some of this events need to be clarified, but the basic facts as told by the McCanns are that checks where Madeleine was actually seen to be in bed did not happen regularly, as there was only one such check, Gerry McCann at 9:05 - 9:10.

So here's the thing, wouldn't you, if you were a parent who's small child had gone missing, be searching the local streets - asking questions about culverts, drains, roadworks?

Why have they not sent investigators to the local council in PDL to scour the maps of the routes taken by the services provided by the utilities?

Isn't it more likely that Madeleine wandered out of the apartment than the fantastic stories being invented to 'prove' an abductor?

So the question is, why arent the mcCann's reacting in this way? Why are they focussed completely on abduction?

I think we know why, do we not?

So the little New Zealand girl was not abducted.
So how did she come to be washed like an autumn leaf down a drain pipe? A tragic accident, a brief moment of distraction that led to the inevitable loss.
The McCanns tell us they checked 'regularly' on the three children, they claim their 'listening service' operated without timing, but was sufficient, was 'just like the service offered by the resort' ( a service that the resort claims was not even offered - they ran a baby-sitting, not a 'listening', service).

But can a listening service be sufficient?

Was one check by Gerry McCann, the loving father, taking a few moments out to return and urinate, sufficient?

Personally, I dont think so.

I dont think we are looking at an abduction, a tragic accident - another case of a child taking their opportunity to escape from a parent who has been distracted. Thats why giving a child at least 50 minutes to wake and wander is not advisable!

So the latest theory is that the twins and Madeleine were sedated by an abductor.

Odd, as the McCanns themsleves claimed they had the twins tested and they were 'cleared'.

Enough to clear the McCanns but not an abductor?

Manipulating the circumstances I think!

I believe that the elements of neglect would be a duty of care (present) failure of the duty of care (only one physical check in two hours - arguably present) and harm as a result (no proof of this).

Interesting that the two areas the McCanns focus on are:

(1) Claims of additional 'listening' checks. and
(2) Clims that Madeleine has come to no harm.

On the face of it, it looks as if there are some lawyers involved, wouldnt you say?

'We regret not being there when she was taken' - isnt this a tad defensive?

A so-called journalist writing in the UK rag 'The Sun'.

Writing about the McCann's and the latest diversion, Madeleine posing in pink at a Swedish car show! I kid you not!

The eyes are 'cleverly' disguised by placing a translucent banner 'The Sun' over them - so its difficult to see Gerald McCann's 'marketting ploy' - her flawed eye.

How the authorities can sit back and allow this fraud to continue I do not know.

Surely even the ardent McCann supporters must be suspicious of this latest diversion?
